Overview
BlueSpace is an enterprise software vendor with solutions for enterprise mail and messaging in the defense, intelligence, financial services, government and healthcare communities, as well as multi-level secure (MLS) middleware for the defense and intelligence communities.

MLS Middleware
As information sharing has become more important, creating a single view of data across multiple security levels has become a key capability for the defense and intelligence communities.  Various approaches to multi-level security have been attempted, but most have ended up being both difficult and expensive to develop and maintain.  Tactical use of cross domain transfer technology has increased greatly to fill the void, but moving large amounts of content between security domains risks infecting high zones, inappropriate leakage of content during downgrading, and ultimately undermines the reason for having separate networks in the first place.

BlueSpace has developed the first MLS middleware platform, made up of its Trusted Service Bus and Trusted Client Framework, to allow rapid development and deployment of MLS applications and systems with minimal accreditation footprints.  Defense and intelligence organizations can create MLS interfaces to both existing commercial and custom applications by leveraging the BlueSpace MLS middleware platform.  Examples include MLS collaboration applications such as instant messaging and wikis, as well as MLS command and control interfaces.  BlueSpace has contracted with a Common Criteria Testing Laboratory in the US to evaluate its Trusted Service Bus at an EAL5+ level.

Defense and intelligence organizations can achieve mission-transformational capabilities with multi-level secure applications and systems.  BlueSpace MLS middleware lets them get there faster and at a lower cost.

Mail and Messaging
Email is the user’s choice for collaboration, but regular commercial email servers have not been designed for deployment scenarios in which content control is an important driver, and custom messaging systems can quickly become legacy and expensive to maintain.

BlueSpace TransMail is the first mail and messaging platform specifically designed for this type of content:

  • It has a modern, multi-tier architecture
  • It supports metadata tagging at compose time
  • It supports data integration through a SOA and web services

It has the following capabilities:

  • Access: Determines who can access the data.
  • Encryption: Ensures confidentiality.
  • Authentication: Confirms the user's identity.
  • Rights Management: Prevents information dissemination.
  • Retention: Varies retention depending on content.
  • Deletion: Allows timely content risk reduction.
  • Metadata: Allows content description.
  • Process: Facilitates automation.
  • Search: For knowledge management and discovery.
  • Data Validation: Guarantees content authenticity.
  • Availability: Ensures business continuity.
  • Audit Log: Records every significant user action.

BlueSpace has created TransMail Trusted Edition for the particular needs of the defense and intelligence communities. It integrates with operating system labeling to provide a multi-level messaging interface, in which content at multiple classification levels can be presented through a single inbox.

The Trusted Client in TransMail Trusted Edition leverages the BlueSpace Trusted Service Bus and Trusted Client Framework to build its MLS mashup views.
