TransMail Overview
Email is the most frequent way that people communicate in business – according to a recent META Group survey, 80% of people prefer email to the phone. Email has significantly increased the ease and frequency of communications in business, and most business letters and internal memos are now sent via email. However, for certain types of electronic mail and messages, regular commercial email software does not meet organizations' business requirements - typically those that are time critical or constitute evidential records. Examples include messages related to:
- Corporate audit processes governed by Sarbanes-Oxley, requiring retention and auditing.
- Government records that must be managed according to varying retention policies through a lifecycle described in 36 C.F.R. 1234.24.
- Corporate finance transactions that require active access rights management for ethical walls.
- Electronic healthcare records that can benefit from process integration with patient unique identification codes, e.g. to alert medical staff to potential allergic reactions.
- Defense and intelligence messaging traffic that is time critical and requires workflow capabilities.
BlueSpace® TransMail™ has been specifically designed for content that constitutes business records in electronic mail. Its unique relational architecture allows every piece of content to be rigorously controlled according to an enterprise policy across its entire lifecycle. BlueSpace TransMail integrates with Microsoft Outlook and Active Directory, and is highly intuitive for end users because it ‘feels like’ regular email. A web 2.0 Ajax client is also available, as is a multi-level secure client, TransMail Trusted Edition.
TransMail is supported by TransMail Server - a J2EE application thatruns on standard application servers such as Jboss and stores content in the TransMail Store, a relational content store built on the Oracle database.
